Base pay range $60,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr Air Export Operator Location: Chicago, IL (ORD Area) Salary: Up to $65,000 base (dependent on experience) Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days in office / 2 days remote About the Company A midsized, globally established freight forwarder is expanding its airfreight operations in the Chicago (ORD) area. Due to continued growth within the air export department, the company is seeking an experienced Air Export Operator to join a hands‑on, fast‑paced team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of shipments end-to-end while working within a stable, growth-focused organization that offers flexibility and long-term development. Role Overview The Air Export Operator will be responsible for managing air export shipments from start to finish, ensuring smooth coordination between customers, airlines, overseas offices, and internal teams. The role requires strong operational knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously. Key Responsibilities Handle air export shipments from booking through final departure and documentation Coordinate with airlines, trucking providers, overseas agents, and customers Prepare and process all air export documentation (AWBs, HAWBs, invoices, packing lists, etc.) Ensure compliance with TSA, IATA, and airline regulations Track shipments and proactively communicate updates to customers Rate quoting and shipment cost control as required Resolve operational issues and provide high‑quality customer service Maintain accurate records within the forwarding system (e.g. CargoWise or similar) Requirements Previous experience in air export operations within a freight forwarding environment Strong understanding of airfreight export processes and documentation Experience working with airlines and international agents Ability to manage shipments independently from start to finish Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Experience with CargoWise or similar systems preferred What’s on Offer Salary up to $65,000 base Hybrid working model (2 days remote / 3 days office) Growing air export department with long‑term career progression Supportive team environment within a globally established forwarder Exposure to international airfreight operations How to Apply Interested and have the relevant experience please apply or contact Jamie Watts on jamie.watts@wearealtius.com Additional Information Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level Employment type: Full‑time Job function: Administrative Industries: Freight and Package Transportation and Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain and Storage #J-18808-Ljbffr
