Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Developmental Specialist (DS II) to join our Early Intervention (EI) team, serving families from Las Cruces to Hatch, NM. In this role, you will provide direct services to infants and toddlers enrolled in the New Mexico FIT Program, supporting developmental progress in children’s natural environments. The Developmental Specialist partners closely with families and a transdisciplinary team to implement strategies aligned with Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and promote appropriate developmental milestones.
Key Responsibilities Provide direct EI services aligned with IFSP outcomes and developmental goals Coach and support families in implementing strategies to build children’s skills Collaborate with parents and multidisciplinary service providers Attend Transdisciplinary Team Consultation Meetings (TTCM) Participate in screenings, assessments, and multidisciplinary evaluations Attend 6-month reviews and annual IFSP meetings with families and team members Complete accurate and timely Daily Notes and Delivered Service Logs Meet EI documentation, billing, and benchmark deadlines per FIT guidelines Maintain and renew DS certification through required coursework and training Provide quality documentation to the EI billing department Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in a discipline approved by New Mexico FIT Program guidelines Ability to obtain and maintain a New Mexico FIT Developmental Specialist certificate Completion (or ability to complete) NM FIT DS coursework required for EI billing Experience working with children preferred Bilingual English/Spanish required Strong adaptability, communication, and ethical decision-making skills Ability to work effectively in dynamic, family-centered environments Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance for home and community visits
