ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to join our global legal team at an exciting period in Trustly’s growth. You will be responsible for partnering with our commercial teams to draft, negotiate and close aTRIES of transactions with some of the world’s biggest brands.

You will be a highly commercial and pragmatic individual who enjoys partnering closely with sales and partnerships teams, and a wider legal team, in order to build enduring relationships with high‑profile brands. You will possess a strong inherent understanding of the mitigation and management of risk and you take pride in protecting the business, winning the best overall deal, while remaining open to creative solutions where required.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH This role will work cross‑functionally with go‑to‑market, banking & merchant partnerships, compliance, and product functions at Trustly to support the sustainable growth of a hyper‑scale business.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Review, draft and interpret a broad range of commercial agreements with merchants, partners, financial institutions, and vendors.

Proactively manage and lead negotiations and build strong alliances with our commercial team in order to do so*/

Work with go‑to‑market teams, commercial & partnerships teams and the wider legal team to implement creative solutions to novel challenges.

Advise management and internal stakeholders regarding agreements, terms and conditions and other commercial issues.

Maintain and update Trustly’s standard‑form agreements and playbooks to streamline the contracting process, maintain compliance and mitigate risk for Trustly.

Work cross‑functionally in order to iterate on Trustly’s contracting processes in order to improve efficiency for the business.

Assist with the launch of new global product initiatives.

WHO YOU ARE

JD degree required and active membership in at least one US jurisdiction.

5+ years of experience negotiating a wide variety of agreements; in‑house or secondment experience in a fast‑paced technology company preferred.

A strong understanding of privacy implications and privacy laws as they pertain to commercial agreements.

Experience in fintech or payments desirable but not essential.

Proven ability to partner with a wide variety of stakeholders with a particular focus on building strong working relationships with partnership and sales teams.

Entrepreneurial and creative by nature, with a bias for action, yet empathetic in dealing with multiple stakeholdersflix&direct to resolve issues.

Strong ability to balance risk while achieving business objectives.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex legal issues in simple terms and report issues to multiple different stakeholders.

$150,000 - $165,000 a year
