Engineering Designer
Mark Thomas is hiring an Engineering Designer for our Structures Team! The rolecripcionave to perform assigned drafting and design tasks that contribute to the completion of a project. General responsibilities include a variety of tasks assigned such as the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E), drawings, exhibits, reports and performing technical calculations. The Civil Engineering Designer can also assist Project Managers with leading technical project designs, design staff oversight, coordinating with clients and other project team members, leading project meetings, and client presentations. The Civil Engineering Designer works under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
Base pay range $101,000.00/yr - $145,808.00/yr
Responsibilities
Prepares plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) drawings, design details, and other engineering documents in an efficient, accurate manner within scope and budget of a project
Determines drawing layout and design, calculations, estimates, and supporting graphics to meet project objectives and Company standards
Trains, guides, and directs entry-level engineers and technicians as appropriate
Reviews work products of engineers and technicians for quality and compliance to appropriate standards
Provides assistance in proposal development & client presentations
Updates project managers and supervisor regarding status of projects, particularly changes in scope or schedule
Draft and mark up client invoices for Project Manager’s review
Engage in the engineering community and build professional contacts
Verifies the accuracy of project plans, cost estimates, quantities, reports, and exhibits
Responds to inquiries from project managers, staff, and clients in a timely manner
Provides technical and field support during construction phase as necessary
Demonstrates an understanding of design manuals, agency standards and procedures
Oversees design engineer and technician’s project workload and mentors and coaches as necessary
Conveys technical information utilizing clear verbal and written skills
Demonstrates a dedication to the organization and industry through participation in training activities (and presentation as appropriate) and actively seeking opportunities to contribute to the achievement of Mark Thomas’ vision and goals
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
A 4-year degree in engineering; civil engineering degree preferred
8-10+ years of progressive, relevant experience in the A/E/C industry
Meets/Exceeds the competencies and responsibilities of a Design Engineer II
EIT certification or equivalent
Working knowledge and experience with MS Project
Demonstrates understanding of applications of design details and concepts
Demonstrated ability to delegate and lead design groups
Demonstrates competent oral and written communications
Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize
Ability to work & collaborate in a team environment
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
Possession of a valid driver’s license
