Position Title
Prevention Specialist (Full‑Time)
Program PlaySmart
Reports To Director of PlaySmart, or COO
FLSA Status Non‑Exempt
Hours 40 hours per week
Position Summary The Full‑Time Prevention Specialist leads implementation of the PlaySmart Prevention Program in Laurens County. This role focuses on reducing opioid misuse through comprehensive prevention strategies, including education, community engagement, coalition‑building, and a countywide multimedia campaign. The Specialist will coordinate outreach efforts, manage partnerships, and serve as the primary local representative for the PlaySmart program.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and deliver opioid misuse prevention education to schools, parents, and community organizations using PlaySmart‑approved materials.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with schools, community organizations, healthcare providers, and coalitions to expand prevention outreach.
Recruit and train volunteers to support community events and educational sessions.
Collect and manage program data, evaluation tools, and activity reports to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Coordinate community prevention events and represent PlaySafe at health fairs, conferences, and community meetings.
Participate in regional and statewide prevention trainings to maintain program fidelity and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum two years of experience in prevention, community outreach, or health education (opioid or substance misuse prevention preferred).
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience developing or managing community‑based campaigns or partnerships.
Strong communication, facilitation, and technology skills (Microsoft Office, Canva).
MUST have: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel within Laurens County.
MUST pass background check due to the nature of working with vulnerable populations within the community.
Compensation and Schedule Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Evenings and weekends required for community events.
