Position Summary
The Retail Sales and Services Assistant supports the operations and marketing of the organization’s retail sales and services, including the Girl Scout Shop, Build-A-Bear Workshop, and special sales events. Using sound merchandising, marketing, and customer service techniques, the Retail Sales and Services Assistant is responsible for processing customer transactions, tracking inventory, and ensuring a positive shop experience for all customers.
At Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, most of our roles work in a hybrid capacity (in office, remote, and/or in the field). Details will be provided during the interview process.

The position is full time with a competitive hiring salary range of $17.72 – $19.49 per hour. Apply online at

Essential Job Duties Support the Council’s revenue goals by assisting in the operations and inventory control of retail sales and providing optimal customer service. Record sales statistics, prepare and deliver deposits to the Finance team and report any discrepancies to the Retail Sales and Services Director. Update the e-commerce site by adding and deleting merchandise as appropriate, and providing up-to-date, high quality product information and images. Provide a high level of customer service to all clients. Lead and/or assist with Build-A-Bear Workshop parties and event experiences. Prepare orders for shipping and receive goods as they arrive, ensuring that all relevant procedures are followed. Create merchandise presentations, including signage, pricing, and labeling. Implement seasonal displays. Maintain inventory, including monitoring returns, repairs, and replacements, and implement loss prevention measures. Communicate new item and supply needs to the Director of Retail Sales and Service. Serve as a collaborative team member, working to advance the mission of Girl Scouts. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the products relevant to Girl Scout clientele. Knowledge of pricing structures and markdown cadences. Strong retail math aptitude and practical experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers, and to represent the organization in a professional manner. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic organization. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to: Remain stationary 25% of the time while operating a desktop or laptop computer at a desk. Remain stationary up to 50% of the time while operating a desktop computer at point of sale. Move about the store and stock room 25% of the time with merchandise. Move about the store to execute merchandise floor sets and updates, handling apparel and using a ladder. Discern details in paperwork and sales transactions. Operate a motor vehicle. Work Environment Usually works in an indoor retail environment. Occasionally works in an outdoor environment for off-site events. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
