Credit Specialist

is an Analyst who plays a vital role in supporting VNBT’s commercial lending strategy by providing detailed financial analysis and credit underwriting for new and existing loan relationships. This position partners closely with Relationship Managers to evaluate borrower creditworthiness, assess risk, and ensure loan structures align with bank policy and sound lending practices. The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with understanding of financial statements and market conditions to help the bank make prudent, informed credit decisions.

Responsibilities

Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow statements for new and existing commercial and consumer clients.

Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums, including risk ratings, loan includes; structuring recommendations and collateral evaluations.

Compare liquidity, profitability, leverage, andומי efficiency ratios of establishments being evaluated to borrower performance with equivalent industry, location and market benchmarks.

Maintain knowledge of economic, industry and market trends that could impact client creditworthiness and performance.

Assist in monitoring and reporting lender and loan exceptions

and track collateral positions and identify emerging trends in portfolio risk.

Conduct annual credit reviews for key relationships to ensure ongoing credit quality and compliance with bank standards.

Maintain current knowledge of internal credit policy, regulatory requirements and best practices in credit risk management.

Participate in client and prospect meetings with lending officers, as needed, to better understand borrower needs and risk factors.

Contribute to a collaborative, client-focused culture that emphasizes diligence, responsiveness, and accuracy.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred

Experience: 2+

years of experience in commercial credit analysis or commercial banking required.

5+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis or commercial banking preferred.

Demonstrated expertise in financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial spreading software; familiarity with banking systems preferred.

Solid understanding of regulatory guidelines, credit policy, and lending best practices.

Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

Ability gukora to travel to other bank locations or client sites, as needed.
