Sweet Breeze Trainer - Seasonal
Do you love boats, teaching, and keeping the crew safe while creating an unforgettable river experience?
What You’ll Do Lead hands-on training for Sweet Breeze crew members, evaluate performance, and ensure everyone operates the vessel safely and efficiently. You'll provide guidance, answer questions, cover shifts if needed, and assist with operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Implement organized training programs using handouts, videos, and hands-on instruction
Track trainee progress and submit reports to supervisors
Evaluate skills and certify crew who meet safety and operational standards
Assist supervisors with vessel issues, scheduling, or emergency situations
Communicate clearly with crew and public; enforce safety rules and policies
Monitor river and weather conditions and adjust operations as needed
Who You Are
Experienced with boats and river operations, confident and calm under pressure
Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Excellent communicator and teacher, approachable and patient
Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic
Safety-focused and solution-oriented
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
3+ years boating experience preferred, Sweet Breeze experience a plus
Knowledge of Fort Wayne rivers preferred
Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Certificates & Licenses
First Aid & CPR certified (provided if needed)
Indiana Boating Safety Certificate
Indiana Driver's License if using City vehicle
Physical Requirements
Stand, walk, reach, crawl, lift up to 50 lbs., operate in tight spaces, and maintain clear vision in all directions
Comfortable working outdoors in heat, humidity, and varying weather
