Position Summary Title:

Electrophysiology Tech III (EP Tech III) Department:

Full‑time Shift:

Monday‑Friday 6:30 am – 3 pm (no on‑call required)

The hospital provides comprehensive cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging, orthopedic, surgical, and emergency services to Southwest Orange County and Orlando’s growing community.

In 2025, the hospital opened an onsite Team Member Wellness Center featuring a state‑of‑the‑art fitness facility, tranquility space, and wellness activities available before or after shifts.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care in the Electrophysiology Lab.

Deliver advanced patient care and demonstrate competency while recognizing patient conditions and age‑specific needs.

Act as preceptor or charge when departmental needs arise.

Apply proficiency in Bloom stimulator use and physician electrophysiology protocols.

Identify, resolve, and report equipment problems to Biomed and equipment vendors.

Explain procedures, provide patient and family education, and assure safety and comfort.

Obtain and document accurate clinical history; verify completeness and accuracy of records.

Position patients, equipment, and devices to achieve high‑quality images and signals.

Assess processed images for technical quality and patient identification.

Apply radiation‑safety principles to minimize exposure to patient, staff, and self.

Provide physiological and hemodynamic monitoring during diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Support physicians as scrub assistants.

Demonstrate aseptic and sterile technique knowledge.

Document patient care accurately in a consistent, regulatory‑compliant manner.

Obtain hemostasis of vessels post‑procedure.

Use superior customer‑service skills in communication with staff, visitors, and patients.

Perform all duties to assure patient satisfaction.

Maintain workflow to meet departmental case‑turnover standards.

Be a superuser in three clinical systems or technologies.

Maintain regular, punctual attendance and comply with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

One of the following:

High School Diploma or GED (CVT—RICS or RCES)

Associate degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program (RRT or CRT)

Completion of an accredited radiography program (R.T.(R))

Completion of an accredited paramedic program (NREMT‑P)

Licensure/Certification:

Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Core Certification:

Must possess one of the following:

Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)

Cardiovascular Intervention (CI) certification

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related science

Four (4) years of experience in addition to the elective requirement, totaling seven years.

Additional Certification:

Must possess and maintain one of the following:

CVT – Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – licensed in the state of employment

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – licensed in the state of employment

Registered Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R)) – valid ANRT certification, licensed in the state of employment

Paramedic – NREMT‑P certification plus RCIS or RCES certification

Experience:

Three (3) years of hospital experience in an Electrophysiology Lab, with demonstrated involvement in EP cases.
