We are an established Corporate Immigration Law Firm seeking to hire an experienced Senior Immigration Paralegal with a strong background in nonimmigrant visa (NIV) case processing for our office located in North San Jose. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of progressive, employment-based immigration experience, with deep, hands‑on knowledge of current visa application processes, procedures, and agency requirements.
This role is well‑suited for a highly skilled professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment, is exceptionally detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and takes pride in supporting team success through expertise, collaboration, and mentorship.
This position will transition to a 3/2 hybrid work model after the first 90 days. Candidates must reside locally to accommodate on‑site requirements as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Independently manage high‑volume, complex nonimmigrant visa casework, including data collection, form preparation, supporting documentation, and end‑to‑end filing with USCIS and other government agencies. Prepare and process NIV petitions such as H‑1B, L‑1, O‑1, TN, E‑3, and related extensions, amendments, and consular processing matters. Serve as a primary point of contact for corporate clients, HR personnel, foreign nationals, immigration attorneys, and government entities, managing cases from intake through adjudication. Maintain and proactively monitor the firm’s case management system, ensuring accuracy of client data, case notes, action items, and critical expiration dates. Identify issues, anticipate risks, and escalate complex case matters appropriately while proposing practical solutions. Stay current on immigration law developments, policy changes, and procedural updates, particularly those impacting nonimmigrant visa processing. Support internal team members by sharing knowledge best practices, and process improvements related to NIV workflows. Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate required. Minimum of 5 years of recent, full‑time employment‑based immigration experience, with a strong emphasis on nonimmigrant visas. Demonstrated, hands‑on experience preparing, filing, and managing NIV and immigrant petitions from start to finish. In‑depth, working knowledge of current USCIS, DOS, and consular processing procedures. Proven ability to prepare high‑quality, detail‑intensive filings efficiently in both electronic and paper‑based environments. Ability to clearly and professionally communicate with foreign nationals, corporate stakeholders, and legal professionals. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while consistently meeting firm service level agreements. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and common business tools including Adobe Acrobat, document scanning, and INSZoom. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining and expanding advanced knowledge of corporate immigration processes and regulations.
