Job Summary:
The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center is seeking a reliable, skilled, and service-oriented Line Cook to join our Food & Beverage team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our guests and associates.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.
Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist.
Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish.
Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients.
Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
Prepare special meals or substitute items.
Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
Pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator. Maintain food logs.
Communicate assistance needed during busy periods.
Inform Chef of excess food items for use in daily specials.
Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out of stock menu items.
Ensure the quality of the food items.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications a plus Minimum 4 years of experience in a hotel Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physical tasks as needed Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Excellent communication and teamwork skills Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays What We Offer:
