JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, the Designer, CAD, Team Lead will collaborate with experienced engineers and other designers to create detailed 2D and 3D models of vehicles using 3DEXPERIENCE. You will utilize CAD software to create detailed models and drawings, and contribute to design reviews. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Development:
Create and refine body and or chassis designs using 3DEXPERIENCE CAD software.
Leadership:
Lead the design team by setting project goals and timelines for CAD modeling quality, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Mentorship:
Provide guidance to junior designers and assist in their professional development.
Collaboration:
Work closely with design engineers, product development, validation, and production staff to ensure designs are feasible and align with project goals.
Research:
Conduct market research to stay updated on trends and consumer preferences, integrating findings into design decisions.
Presentation:
Present design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback for improvements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES FOR SUCCESS
Skills:
Strong understanding of automotive design principles, outstanding attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work alone or on a team in a fast‑paced environment.
Software Proficiency:
Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Alias, Siemens, Catia) and familiarity with 3D modeling tools (e.g., Rhino, Blender).
Design Expertise:
GD&T, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), Lessons Learned Implementation, PLM Processing/Releasing.
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years in automotive design or a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant projects.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent in automotive design or engineering.
All candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Certifications in CAD software, engineering, or design are preferred but not mandatory.
Simulation Experience:
CFD, FEA.
