Wayne State University . Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Educational Development Specialist at its Detroit campus location.

Job Purpose The Educational Development Specialist will provide guidance in course design and conduct--; training on effective pedagogies and instructional technology for instructors at Wayne State. They will serve as an expert on best practices in pedagogy, instructional technology, and the scholarship of teaching and learning, and will actively and continuously engage in professional development activities to remain current in teaching, learning, and educational technology trends.

Essential Responsibilities

Provide consultation to faculty and instructional staff in the design and structure of instructional solutions for inclusive, engaging, and collaborative learning in all modalities; conduct individual and group consultations related to course design, redesign, and development of clear course standards and outcomes assessment.

Conceptualize, create, and deliver educational developmentস্ত workshop sessions (both pedagogical and technical) in a variety of modalities and formats aimed at assisting faculty members as they develop engaging, interactive, and student-centered courses.

Develop and disseminate professional quality accessible materials, documentation, modules, training, workshops, and resources related to learning theory, pedagogy, evidence-based teaching methods, classroom assessment techniques, educational technology, and quality assurance.

Participate in campus-wide teaching and learning initiatives that encourage emerging technology tools in the development and implementation of innovative, student-centered learning environments.

Define, implement, and coordinate projects and related research with faculty, and disseminate results through reports, publications, and presentations.

Update and improve own knowledge, skills and attitudes pertaining to instructional design, faculty development, and emerging technologies.

Collaborate with stakeholders to support and maintain a quality assurance process for continuous improvement of courses and programs.

Assist with special projects as assigned and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Master's degree in education, instructional design, business, communications, or a related field; Doctorate preferred.

Experience (minimum 5 years):

Minimum 3 years' experience consulting with faculty and facilitating workshops, learning communities, and/or faculty/professional development; extensive knowledge of adult learning theories and innovative instructional design methods; experience designing, implementing, and conducting faculty development programs; experience designing courses in Canvas LMS; syllabus development أور. Successful online or hybrid teaching experience in higher education.

Preferred Experience:

Editing and proofreading educational materials; quality metrics (Quality Matters, OLC, etc.); Quality Matters Peer Reviewer certification; technical writing and/or materials development skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities – Course Design:

Knowledge of current course design, assessment, and teaching strategies; collaboration with faculty to develop learning outcomes; application of instructional design methodology and principles; use of backward design and universal design for learning; advanced instructional design skills; knowledge of course design principles.

Technical:

Ability to develop ADA-compliant৩০ materials; competence with Canvas LMS, Zoom, lecture capture; proficiency in MS Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.

Interpersonal:

Develop and maintain professional relationships; foster teamwork; handle confidential information with discretionியும்; interact with humility, empathy, and patience.

Planning & Organizing:

Excellent organizational and time-management skills; prioritize and meet deadlines; project management skills.

Communication:

Effective oral and written communication; clear and persuasive articulation of concepts; ability to author laughter or peer-reviewed works; soliciting and providing constructive feedback.
