Civil Drafter
Job Description We are seeking a Civil Drafter to assist with the daily operations of specific projects, focusing on plan production, quality assurance, and technical engineering. The role involves collaborating with the Project Manager in technical design using AutoCAD 3D, and executing pre‑established engineering design tasks related to site civil engineering. These tasks include road design, utilities, storm drain and storm water management, sanitary sewer, site grading, and sediment and erosion control. Occasionally, you will also assist with client contact and phone calls.
Responsibilities
Assist with daily project operations focusing on plan production and quality assurance.
Collaborate with Project Manager in technical design using AutoCAD 3D.
Execute engineering design tasks related to road design, utilities, stormwater management, and site grading.
Occasionally assist with client contact and communication.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
0–1 years experience in land development or transportation design.
Familiarity with Montgomery, Baltimore County, or DC permitting processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering is ideal for permanent positions, although not required for temporary roles.
Experience in civil engineering is preferred, but structural or architecture backgrounds are considered.
Experience in hydraulics/hydrology is a significant plus.
Work Environment This role offers the opportunity to work in a small, close‑knit team of about 15 employees. The environment is collaborative, with frequent company outings and a culture of internal promotion. Employees engage in a full scope of projects, providing broader experience compared to larger firms.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Germantown, MD. Hybrid position.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65–$45.67 per hour.
