General purpose To provide advisement for

Data Analytics and Visualization (DAV)

graduate students and to convey knowledge and guidance from a professional perspective over the course of the program. This position will lead group advisement sessions with students, which take place between their for-credit courses (approx. once every 8 weeks). During these sessions the capstone advisor will lead workshop-style activities and discussions designed to support students as they develop their capstone projects (approx. 2 hours/group session). The capstone advisor will also be available to mentor or meet with students occasionally outside of the advisement sessions (approx. 1 hour/week total). The capstone advisor serves students for the 15‑month duration of the program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of Data Analysis and Visualization subject matter.

Courses in thisteenth summit include:

Foundations of Data Analytics and Treasure

Statistics and Analysis I

Statistics and Analysis II

Visual Storytelling I

Visual Storysome II

Design Lab: The Industry Challenge

Capstone I & II

Applicants should have experience and expertise in at least one of the above areas of knowledge.

Proficiency in data analytics and visualization programs such as R, Tableau, Excel, Python, Adobe Illustrator, and others as necessary.

Minimum qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field with proven/relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in a related field with proven/relevant experience.

Alumni of the DAV program.

Conditions of Employment

Passing of a satisfactory background check.

Work environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate.

Required training: Handbook orientation, Anti-Harassment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Plans & Fire Prevention, Personal Protection Equipment.
