
Senior Production Designer — Global Creative Team

What You Will Do The Senior Production Designer is the
technical owner and final quality gate
for all packaging, print, and production-ready assets across the brand. This is a senior, hands‑on role responsible for ensuring every file that leaves the creative team is accurate, compliant, on‑brand, and ready for flawless execution.
You will lead all packaging production internally, oversee our packaging production freelancer, and serve as the subject‑matter expert for print workflows, mechanical builds, and production standards—while also supporting digital production and render application as needed.
Focus
Own all packaging production from design handoff through print release
Ensure flawless execution across packaging, retail, and digital assets
Act as a final QA authority before files go to vendors
Maintain and evolve packaging and production standards for the brand
Key Responsibilities Packaging & Print Production (Primary Focus)
Own all packaging mechanicals, dielines, ingredient layouts, regulatory lockups, and SKU extensions
Build print‑ready files for cartons, bottles, tubes, kits, gift sets, and specialty formats
Apply artwork accurately to dielines and packaging templates
Partner with printers and vendors; support press checks and color approvals (occasional travel)
Support the team with graphic design (i.e., print, digital) as needed
Print, cut, mount, and assemble physical comps and mockups for reviews and approvals
Retouch and refine packaging artwork, renders, and digital assets in Photoshop
Apply packaging artwork to 2D and 3D carton/product renders for e‑commerce and campaign use
Support final asset polish for photography, PDPs, and marketing visuals
Bonus: assist with or build basic 3D render workflows in collaboration with designers
Digital Production
Build and resize production‑ready assets for PDPs, emails, banners, paid media, and global toolkits
Ensure digital assets meet all channel specs and are delivered accurately and on time
Workflow Ownership & Leadership
Maintain and update Packaging Guidelines and production standards
Own file organization, naming conventions, and version control across Widen / Dropbox
Partner with Marketing, Ops, Regulatory, R&D, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment
Manage and QC work from the Packaging Production Freelancer to expand capacity during heavy SKU periods
What You Will Bring Key Qualifications
7+ years
of production art / production design experience, ideally in beauty, CPG, or premium consumer brands
Deep expertise in
packaging production , mechanical builds, dielines, prepress, and print workflows
Proven ability to manage complex global SKU systems with precision
Experience owning production end‑to‑end, not just executing assigned files
Core Skills
Adobe Illustrator & InDesign
Photoshop
(retouching, compositing, render application)
Strong typography, layout, hierarchy, and brand consistency instincts
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver error‑free files at scale
Highly organized, process‑driven, and comfortable operating independently
Confident communicator with vendors and cross‑functional partners
What You Will Deliver
Protects the brand through expert accuracy and production rigor
Prevents costly reprints and production errors
Enables Dermalogica to scale packaging and production work in‑house
Stabilizes workflows and expands capacity by managing freelance support
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
Experience applying artwork to 3D renders (cartons, bottles, kits)
Familiarity with Solidworks, KeyShot, or render workflows
Experience with Wrike, Widen, or DAM systems
Interest in beauty, skincare, or wellness
The position will report to the Global Creative Director and is based at the corporate headquarters in Carson, CA, with hybrid on‑site work guidelines.
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $85K to $110K. The exact salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, and budget. This position is also eligible for participation in a discretionary bonus plan contingent upon achievement of specific performance goals and overall company performance.
