Position Summary The Exhibit/Environment Designer develops creative, functional, and visually compelling designs that bring client stories to life in physical spaces. This role balances creativity and technical execution, translating conceptual ideas into production‑ready designs that align with brand objectives, budget, and schedule. Working closely with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and vendors, the Exhibit/Environment Designer ensures design integrity from concept through production. This role contributes to RGI’s culture of innovation and craftsmanship by delivering projects on time, on target, on budget—with no unpleasant surprises.
Responsibilities & Accountability Concept Development & Innovation Research, brainstorm, and prototype creative ideas with interdisciplinary teams.
Contribute to pitches and presentations with visuals that are on‑trend, on‑brand, and compelling.
Explore innovative materials and methods that enhance client storytelling.
Design Documentation & Technical Execution Produce design documents that capture creative vision through concept, schematic, and detail design phases.
Translate concepts into drawings and specifications suitable for fabrication.
Ensure design deliverables are accurate, consistent, and aligned with client requirements.
Project Collaboration & Production Oversight Work with Project Management, Engineering, and Fabrication teams to align design intent with project execution.
Oversee internal and external fabrication processes to ensure designs meet brand and quality standards.
Guide projects through production while maintaining storytelling integrity.
Aesthetic Direction & Design Leadership Direct creative choices such as form, color, and materials through mood boards and visual references.
Maintain accountability for creative integrity throughout project lifecycles.
Participate in studio brainstorms and contribute to the elevation of RGI’s creative output.
Client & Vendor Engagement Collaborate with Client Services to manage design needs, approvals, and delivery dates.
Engage with external vendors to ensure timely delivery of design components and materials.
Participate in client presentations, reviews, and approvals throughout the design process.
Accountability Framework The Exhibit/Environment Designer is accountable for transforming creative concepts into executable designs that meet client goals, budgets, and schedules. Success is measured by creative innovation, accuracy of design deliverables, effective cross‑functional collaboration, and delivery of projects aligned with RGI’s promise: “On Time, On Target, On Budget, With No Unpleasant Surprises.”
Qualifications & Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or Environmental Design
Strong portfolio demonstrating creativity and execution across a wide range of projects
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Excellent skills with 3D modeling software Rhino and Enscape (Chaos)
3+ years of experience bringing projects from concept through production (preferred, not required)
Excellent time management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred:
Experience in experiential, exhibit, or branded environment design
Experience designing physical and digital interactive exhibits
Demonstrated knowledge of typography, layouts, and both print and digital production
Strong proofreading skills in grammar, spelling, and style
Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced, diverse team environment
Willingness to travel up to 10% for client and project needs
