We’re looking for our first in-house legal hire to join Braintrust. This role will be critical as we scale our sales and customer base, helping us close deals, navigate data privacy, and build a scalable legal function from the ground up. You’ll work closely with sales, product, engineering, and leadership to negotiate enterprise contracts, ensure compliance with data regulations, and design the processes that allow us to move quickly without unnecessary risk. Contracts and Commercial Support Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including SaaS and on‑prem agreements, MSAs, NDAs, vendor agreements, consulting agreements, DPAs, and partnership agreements. Lead legal support for complex, high‑value enterprise sales transactions, and work closely with our sales team to close deals. Build strong working relationships with customer legal teams to accelerate adoption. Scaling the Legal Function Develop contract playbooks, template agreements, and streamlined processes for the sales team. Support governance, risk, and compliance programs. Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate with Sales, Finance, HR, Product, and Engineering to ensure legal alignment across the business. Provide strategic guidance on commercial legal matters, emerging regulations, and market trends. xsgimln JD from an accredited law school and admitted to the bar and in good standing in California, or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in‑house status) ~3‑5 years of relevant legal experience, including at least 2 years in‑house at a high‑growth SaaS company ~ Extensive experience with enterprise software agreements and technology transactions ~ Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and keep deals moving ~ Comfort operating as a team of one while building the function for scale
