Fixed Assets Accountant
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Fixed Assets Accountant to support the day-to-day oversight of capital spending, asset tracking, and related financial reporting activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate project and asset data within an enterprise financial system and partners cross-functionally with finance, operations, procurement, and technology teams.
The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, hands-on experience with ERP systems, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full lifecycle of capital projects, including project setup, budget loading, error resolution, and ongoing monitoring of capital expenditures for proper capitalization
Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including asset creation, depreciation processing, transfers, disposals, and adjustments
Prepare, post, and review monthly journal entries related to capital and fixed asset activity
Perform monthly reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and system integrity
Respond to inquiries related to capital projects, assets, and capital budgets from internal stakeholders
Develop, analyze, and distribute recurring financial and operational reports
Support internal and external audit activities by preparing schedules, reports, and supporting documentation
Assist with budget forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis as requested
Support financial system changes related to mergers, acquisitions, or system enhancements
Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and training materials
Assist with report development, queries, and data analysis within the financial system
Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including system enhancements, policy updates, and procedural changes
Participate in cross-functional initiatives and special projects aligned with organizational goals
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of three years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years supporting fixed assets or capital accounting
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills with a high level of attention to detail
Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
