What to expect.
The Entitlements and Housing Specialist is responsible for assisting members in pursuing entitlements/benefits as well as developing and maintaining personal budgets. This role will also be responsible for developing contacts and resources for safe, affordable housing suitable to the appropriate level of care for individual members.
Specific responsibilities include:
Assists members in accessing entitlements, initiating application, gathering relevant records, monitoring status, and communicating results to members and team.
Networks with institutional representatives at DSS, Social Security, etc. to secure entitlements.
Coordinates medical insurance, food stamps, and Section 8 needs.
Meets with members and staff to resolve all money issues.
Develops, updates, and modifies, personalized budgets for members.
Teaches members personal financial management skills.
Identify assisted living providers, screen for suitability, maintain proof of current licensures, and maintain an up-to-date list of available facilities including all relevant information (cost, clients served, location, etc).
Assist with housing inspections.
Identify and develop relationships with landlords/rental agents and boarding facilities renting or interested in renting to program members.
Serve as a liaison and resource to the treatment teams/staff regarding all housing issues.
Support member with acclimating to their new housing arrangement.
Provide transportation to members in a personal vehicle and/or agency-owned vehicle as assigned.
What we need from you.
A high school diploma and two years of related work experience. A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field is preferred.
Valid driver's license with 3 points or less and access to an insured vehicle.
Knowledge and understanding of severe and persistent mental illness.
Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Pay for this position is a flat rate of $21.37/hr.
