Appointment: Ongoing, Full Time (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening or weekend hours)

About the Position The Marketing Communications Strategist serves as the college’s lead storyteller, content strategist, and communications liaison. The role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communication plans that promote the college’s programs, people, and priorities across web, digital, and print platforms. The strategist collaborates with the Dean, Associate Deans, department chairs, the Social Media Analyst, Media Production Specialist, and Strategic Communications to research, write, publish feature stories, press releases, and news items; maintain the college website; and manage the social media presence.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least four years of relevant experience; advanced degree may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Advanced knowledge of marketing, branding, communications, and public relations, with demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans.
Strong storytelling, journalistic writing, and editorial skills; experience with media outreach and building relationships with the press.
Proficiency in web content management, social media management, and graphic and video production tools.
Advanced analytical and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work under general supervision.
Background check required; must meet CSU’s employment and reporting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education or non‑profit communications.
Photography and/or video production skills.
Familiarity with CSU and CSUF branding and accessibility (ATI) standards.
Demonstrated success in developing strategic communication campaigns and measuring engagement outcomes.
Special Working Conditions
Occasional evenings, weekends for events and media coverage.
May lift up to 25 pounds of marketing materials or equipment.
