Position Summary The New Truck Sales Manager is a key leadership position responsible for driving new truck, trailer, and Hyundai equipment sales performance, developing a high-performing sales team, and expanding market share across Universal Truck Sales' territory.
This role provides day-to-day leadership of the new truck sales department and plays a critical role in sales strategy, customer relationships, inventory planning, and OEM alignment. The ideal candidate is a confident, relationship-driven leader with a strong understanding of the commercial vehicle and equipment industry who enjoys coaching sales professionals and delivering results.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities 1. Sales Leadership & Strategy
Lead, coach, and develop the new truck and equipment sales team to achieve volume, gross profit, and market share goals
Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards
Drive disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, and execution across all sales opportunities
Partner with executive leadership to align sales strategies with company objectives and OEM programs
2. Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with fleet, vocational, construction, and retail customers
Support major account strategies, negotiations, and long-term customer planning
Ensure a consistent, professional customer experience from initial contact through delivery
Reinforce follow-up discipline and CRM usage to support customer retention and growth
3. Sales Performance Management
Monitor sales metrics, forecasts, margins, and order activity
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, deal reviews, and performance coaching
Identify performance gaps and implement training or process improvements
Prepare and present sales performance updates to senior leadership
4. Inventory & Order Management
Oversee new truck, trailer, and Hyundai equipment ordering strategies, stock levels, and allocations
Balance inventory availability with floorplan exposure
Maintain pricing discipline and margin expectations across all deals
Coordinate closely with Used Sales, Finance, Leasing, Rental, Service, and Parts to ensure smooth transactions and deliveries
5. OEM & Vendor Relations
Serve as the primary point of contact for OEM partners, including Hyundai, Autocar and other truck and trailer manufacturers
Manage OEM relationships related to forecasting, specifications, incentives, and programs
Stay current on product updates, market trends, and competitive offerings
Collaborate with OEM representatives on sales initiatives, training, and marketing efforts
6. Collaboration & Communication
Work cross-functionally with service, parts, leasing, finance, and corporate teams
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, customers, and OEM partners
Participate in management meetings, planning sessions, and strategic initiatives

Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
Minimum of 5 years of commercial truck, trailer, or equipment sales experience
Prior sales leadership or management experience strongly preferred
Experience working with OEM programs and incentive structures
CDL Class A or B preferred but not required
Physical Demands
Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands and arms
Vision abilities including close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
Dealership and office environment with frequent customer interaction
Moderate noise level
Travel within territory with occasional overnight travel
