Overview The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating criminal activity in the State of Louisiana. CID is comprised of sandwich detectives and narcotics investigators. CID operates in three regions throughout the state, which follow the same geographical lines as the patrol regions. In addition to the CID Headquarters, several field offices are maintained in strategic locations throughout the state.

Position Summary The Rica Criminal Investigator position focuses on conducting criminal, administrative, and regulatory investigations; and may conduct surveillance of known and suspected criminal targets for purposes of intelligence gathering and investigation.

Qualifications One year of experience in investigatory work while employed as a commissioned law enforcement officer plus one of the following:

Two years of experience in law enforcement, investigatory work or military intelligence applification.

Twelve hours in law enforcement orือน criminal justice field.

At least 18 years of age.

Possession of a current Louisiana driver’s license.

Willingness and ability to attain a POST certification.

No felony convictions, indictments, or pending felony charges; and no convictions within the past three years for hit and run or driving while intoxicated.

Job Duties

Investigates violations of state criminal laws, conducts administrative investigations and investigations of regulatory violations enforced by the department through statute.

Gathers evidence, prepares warrants, and effects arrests.

Locates and interviews witnesses and testifies in court.

Conducts undercover operations,”、“ assumptions undercover roles, and conducts physical and technical surveillance.

Prepares necessary reports on investigations.

Makes physical arrests and transports fugitives.

Performs background investigations.

Compensation:

Minimum bi‑weekly salary: Criminal Investigator 2 (PS‑113) – $1,888.00. Salary depends on qualifications and experience.
