Senior Legal Secretary

County Counsel The Office of County Counsel serves as legal counsel of the County of Orange and represents the Board of Supervisors, County officers, and County departments. The mission is to provide the highest quality legal advice and representation to the Board of Supervisors, elected and appointed department heads, County agencies, and surrounding special districts.
Opportunity The Senior Legal Secretary will provide legal secretarial support to assigned attorneys on the Office's LPS/Probate or Litigation and Advisory teams. Duties include preparation, processing, and filing of legal documents in civil actions and litigation, such as opinions, agreements, contracts, pleadings, letters, and memoranda. The role also involves supporting attorneys across a diversity of client agencies and areas of law.
Responsibilities
Prepare, format, and edit various legal forms and documentation.
Analyze and interpret court rules, procedures, and citation checks.
Understand court system procedures, process legal documents, and meet filing deadlines.
Conduct research and locate relevant resources in a law library setting.
Plan and organize complex legal and general clerical assignments effectively.
Contribute to the development and refinement of office policies and procedures.
Meet Office of County Counsel goals and deadlines.
Communicate effectively in oral and written communication, presenting ideas concisely, logically, and persuasively.
Communicate with peers, management, members of the public, and staff to achieve business objectives.
Use diplomacy when dealing with challenging situations or sudden changes.
