Legal Secretarial Support
This is a temporary position providing legal secretarial support to division staff. Performs highly responsible and confidential secretarial duties and administrative functions. Minimum qualifications include two years of professional office clerical experience. Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must successfully pass an initial criminal background check, as well as every two years thereafter, and continuously meet the requirements of the Bureau of Criminal Information (BCI). Essential functions include drafting service contracts, preparing required documents, managing travel/training requests, composing correspondence, preparing and maintaining case files, coordinating inquiries, receiving and reviewing documents, answering case status inquiries, analyzing case information, transcribing legal charges, managing calendars, preparing case files, utilizing legal training, reviewing case files, assisting in setting appointments, reviewing and routing mail, and obtaining financial information. Knowledge of general secretarial/clerical procedures, legal terminology, office technology systems, business English, Salt Lake County rules, criminal justice system, court procedures, county subdivision approval process, word processing systems, legal research, and cash handling policies is required. Skills include typing accurately, working with computer software, transcribing dictation, and greeting and assisting the public. Work duties are performed in a professional office environment.
