CEIs client is a National Leader in Energy Distribution, and they are adding a Structural Designer to their team in Mineral, VA

- 2-year contract with potential for extension
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide civil engineering support for projects within a nuclear facility, ensuring compliance with structural and seismic requirements.
- Evaluate and design structural supports, including drilling into walls, cutting rebar, and assessing load-bearing capacities.
- Address emergent field issues, such as design conflicts and material substitutions (e.g., selecting alternative beams for light seismic lifting).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement design changes and resolve unforeseen obstacles during construction.
- Ensure designs meet required load specifications and adhere to federal and facility standards.
- Maintain clear documentation and follow standard design processes, preferably aligned with nuclear industry practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 2–5 years of civil engineering experience.
- Familiarity with structural and seismic design principles.
- Understanding of standard design processes.
- Ability to work onsite and respond to emergent issues promptly.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a nuclear facility or similar regulated environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills for field-based challenges and design adjustments.
- Knowledge of structural load calculations and seismic considerations.
