This position requires you to be working in office, 3 days per week, from our Bala Cynwyd, PA office.
Position Summary The Senior Manager of Public Relations leads the company's external communications strategy to strengthen brand reputation, enhance public image, and elevate media presence. This role serves as the primary steward of the brand externally, working closely with agency partners and internal stakeholders to drive integrated communications, manage press activities, and lead crisis communications. The position ensures all public relations initiatives align with business objectives while increasing brand visibility and trust in the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive external communications strategies that enhance brand reputation and support business goals.
Lead and manage public relations agency partners and external vendors, ensuring strong performance, alignment, and return on investment.
Oversee media relations, including press outreach, story development, executive visibility, and proactive media engagement.
Monitor brand sentiment across traditional media, social platforms, reviews, and key stakeholder channels to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
Lead crisis communications and issues management efforts during reputation-sensitive situations.
Ensure consistent brand voice, messaging, and positioning across all external communications and channels.
Partner cross-functionally with internal departments to develop and execute integrated communications plans.
Ensure all external communications comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
Education and Experience
8-10 years of experience required
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing
Master's degree in Communications, Business, or Related
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of public relations principles, media relations, and external communications strategy
Knowledge of crisis management, reputation protection, and issues management best practices
Familiarity with consumer-facing industries such as automotive, retail, or services, including competitive and media landscapes
Understanding of regulatory and legal considerations impacting public communications
Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills
Strong leadership and ability to manage agency partners and cross-functional relationships
Proven ability to influence senior executives and collaborate across all levels of the organization
Skilled in media negotiation, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement
Ability to craft compelling narratives that support brand positioning and business objectives
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
Strong judgment, discretion, and composure during sensitive or crisis situations
