Department Information Office of Public Safety
Job Summary Monitor all radio traffic and transmit all information to Public Safety personnel in field. Manage all incoming and outgoing communications. Maintain operating functions of communications center, including entering information into records management system.
This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.
Responsibilities
Provides directory assistance to callers after normal business hours
Assists students, faculty, staff and visitors with general information and campus event locations
Follows all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work
Maintains and clean equipment and work areas
Ensures confidentiality of information obtained from GCIC/NCIC
Maintains logs and all certifications required by state law with reference to GCIC operations
Operates Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) computer to check for stolen property, criminal history, driver's license information and vehicle information
Enters all stolen property and wanted persons into GCIC system
Monitors radio traffic and transmit necessary information
Monitors 24-hour receiver of all fire and intrusion alarms on campus
Monitors emergency callboxes throughout campus and campus-wide surveillance system
Dispatches housing, emergency and maintenance calls after regular business hours
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Other Required Qualifications
Must successfully complete a 40-hour training program within the first six (6) months of employment to obtain a certification as a Communications Officer through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST)
Required Experience
One (1) or more years of general office work experience
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience
One (1) or more years of work experience as a dispatcher
Proposed Salary $18.12 - $22.21 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
