Our client in Hayward, CA is seeking a Sr Mechanical Engineer to work on a 1‑year contract supporting the manufacturing of DNA sequencing systems. Location: Hayward, California Job Type: Contract Salary: $53.50 – $66.75 per hour Work Hours: 8 am to 4 pm Responsibilities
Lead sustaining engineering for ongoing manufacturing and product reliability. Identify and implement design, cost, and reliability improvements for existing products. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain) to resolve technical issues. Design components, assemblies, and test fixtures using CAD (SolidWorks required). Conduct root cause analysis, system‑level testing, and corrective actions for mechanical failures. Manage engineering project tasks (planning, scheduling, budgeting). Generate and maintain detailed engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, reports). Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical or related Engineering (M.S. with 5+ years experience, or B.S. with 8+ years). Proven experience in sustaining engineering, preferably in life sciences/medical devices. Proficiency in SolidWorks, GD&T, precision assemblies, material selection, and manufacturing processes. Ability to lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. Project management skills and excellent communication. Skills
