We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale earthwork and site development projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned field leader with deep experience in mass grading, excavation, utilities and high-volume earthmoving. As the Heavy Civil Superintendent, you will oversee daily field operations, leading crews, coordinating equipment, and using machine control technology to deliver safe, productive work. You will work closely with Project Managers, engineers, and field leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. This position requires a hands-on leader who understands production, sequencing, and logistics, and who can lead teams through complex, fast-paced construction environments. Job Duties:
You will lead and manage daily field operations for heavy civil construction projects, including mass grading, excavation, utilities, and site development. You will plan and execute complex earthmoving operations requiring detailed cut/fill balancing and coordinated mass haul activities. You will supervise, mentor, and coordinate foremen, crews, and subcontractors to meet safety, quality, and production goals. You will develop and adjust work sequencing, production plans, and manpower/equipment allocations to support project schedules. You will utilize and oversee GPS and machine control systems to improve grading accuracy, efficiency, and productivity. You will coordinate heavy equipment usage, availability, and logistics to minimize downtime and maximize production. You will interpret and enforce construction plans, specifications, and contract requirements. You will enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations. You will monitor daily production, quantities, and field conditions, and proactively address issues impacting schedule or cost. You will communicate effectively with Project Managers, inspectors, engineers, and owners to support project execution. You will maintain accurate daily reports, field documentation, and production tracking records. You will support pre-construction and planning efforts by providing input on sequencing, equipment needs, and constructibility. Professional Skills:
Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including experience as a Superintendent or senior field leader. Experience managing high-volume earthwork projects requiring significant material movement and production-driven operations. Strong understanding of excavation, grading, cut/fill balancing, and earthmoving logistics. Working knowledge and hands-on experience with machine control systems (preferably Trimble Siteworks). Solid understanding of heavy equipment operations, including dozers, excavators, scrapers, loaders, and haul trucks. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and schedules. Strong safety knowledge and commitment to maintaining a safe jobsite. Personal Strengths:
