The position is on a contract basis through the 5-2026 school year and requires certification for providing specialized mobility services tailored to the needs students.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct orientation and mobility assessments for visually impaired students across grades K-12
Develop and implement individualized mobility plans to improve functional travel skills
Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to integrate mobility goals with academic and social objectives
Provide training on assistive devices and adaptive techniques for safe navigation indoors and outdoors
Maintain detailed records and progress reports in accordance with district guidelines and certification standards
Qualifications
National Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification required
ACVREP certification preferred
Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
Knowledge of current best practices in orientation and mobility instruction
Location and Schedule
Gilbert, AZ
Full-time, approximately 37.5 hours per week
Contract duration through May 21, 2026, with a potential start as soon as possible
