Instruction:
Provide high-quality instruction in climbing fundamentals, including knot tying, belaying (top-rope and lead), proper use of equipment, and climbing technique.
Education:
Facilitate and teach proper belay and climbing techniques while educating participants on equipment, technical skills and risk management.
Climbing Safety:
Observe and check for proper belay techniques and safe climbing practices, ensuring adherence to all safety rules and operational guidelines.
Conflict Resolution:
Manage participant behavior and mediate conflicts to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
Facility Operations:
Utilize InnoSoft Fusion to accurately check in climbers upon arrival and verify membership status.
Equipment:
Manage the check-out and inventory of rental equipment, specifically including harnesses, shoes, and chalk, using the InnoSoft Fusion system.
Operational Support:
Assist with program registration and equipment check-out. You will also help with program design, implementation and evaluation.
Cleanliness:
Maintain a clean and inviting climbing center environment.
Attend
non-revenue generating sporting events for free.

Working Conditions
Environment:
Both indoors and outdoors with potential exposure to adverse weather.
Physical:
Requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting weight up to 40 lbs regularly. Must be comfortable and capable of working at height (over 30 feet) for route-setting, maintenance, and rescue procedures.
Sensory:
The work environment can be potentially loud and busy, requiring strong communication, listening, and observation skills to ensure patron safety.
Schedule:
Flexibility in availability is needed to cover operational hours, which potentially include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and university breaks (e.g., fall break, spring break).
Safety:
Exposure to potential safety hazards inherent to climbing operations. Strict adherence to the emergency action plan is required to mitigate risk.

Eligibility:
Current full-time NC State student, demonstrated by enrollment in at least 12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credit hours.
Certifications:
First Aid and Adult CPR / AED certifications should be current or obtained before position commencement.
Time Commitment:
This position requires you to work a minimum of one four-hour shift per week.
