As a Salesforce Engineer at American Family Insurance, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing Salesforce solutions that align with our goals and standards. We will require a technical background in application architecture, integration strategies, and software development life cycle (SDLC) principles, with a focus on delivering customer-driven solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Salesforce Developer ensures seamless data flows, robust integrations, and high-quality customizations, while maintaining comprehensive documentation and adhering to best practices in programming, performance, and security.
In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month out of the Madison, WI or Boston, MA offices. Internals are encouraged to apply regardless of location. You will report to the Senior Manager, Engineering - Customer Digital Technology.
Position Compensation Range:
$78,000.00 - $128,000.00

Primary Accountabilities
Design and develop Salesforce solutions aligned with business requirements, organizational standards, and best practice
Analyze and identify dependency within Salesforce and integrated systems; evaluate impact of proposed change on related application and recommend solution
Document design decisions, technical specifications, code modules, and performance metrics per team and organizational standard
Define, conduct, and participate in testing activity, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing for Salesforce components
Collaborate with teams to increase data flow, integration, and business process within Salesforce and connected platform
Ensure Salesforce development meets standards for programming, design, performance, quality, and security
Actively participate in team meetings, sprint planning, and help achieve team goal
Create, maintain, and enhance technical documentation for Salesforce customization, integration, and configuration
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
Basic knowledge and understanding of integration and migration strategies and technologies
Basic knowledge and understanding of application architecture, design alternatives, and development standards
Demonstrated experience developing complex software/systems using one or more programming language(s)
Demonstrated experience interpreting, modifying and writing application system design and program specifications
Demonstrated experience using and supporting integration and communications technologies between applications, databases and technology platforms
Demonstrated experience using relational databases and standard query language (SQL)
Solid knowledge and understanding of systems development life cycle (SDLC)
Solid knowledge and understanding of activities, tasks, tools and techniques for testing applications to ensure adherence to functional and quality requirements
Preferred Skills:
Demonstrated experience supporting the Salesforce ecosystem
Working knowledge of Salesforce integration and migration strategy, including REST/SOAP API, middleware, and data migration tool
Understanding of Salesforce application architecture, design pattern, and development standard (Apex, Lightning Component, Visualforce)
3+ years of experience developing and customizing Salesforce application using Apex, Lightning Web Component, and declarative tool
Ability to interpret, modify, and write technical specification and design document for Salesforce solution
Experience with integration technology connecting Salesforce to external application, database, and platform
Proficiency in using Salesforce data management tool and writing SOQL/SOSL query
