We are looking for an experienced and motivated Water Hygiene Engineer to join our technical team. This role involves delivering planned maintenance and servicing tasks to ensure compliance with L8 ACOP legislation across commercial and domestic water systems. You will play a key part in maintaining water hygiene standards, performing disinfection procedures, and supporting compliance activities to protect health and safety.
Job Description As a Water Hygiene Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, and water hygiene tasks on various systems. You will manage disinfection processes, perform PPM monitoring, and provide detailed reports and certifications for all works undertaken. The role requires strong technical knowledge, adherence to health and safety standards, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders. National travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Promote and ensure the highest levels of health and safety and compliance.
Perform scheduled inspections, maintenance, repairs, and testing of water systems.
Complete reactive disinfection procedures in line with ISS governance and SSoW documents.
Carry out standard PPM monitoring and inspection tasks on water systems.
Issue certification for all small works undertaken.
Provide detailed reports of all tasks completed.
Attend technical forums and contribute to service delivery improvements.
Manage own time effectively and prioritise tasks based on urgency.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and service excellence.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Relevant plumbing certification (NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or equivalent) - unvented qualification desirable
Certification and experience in managing microbiological risks in water systems
Experience in water system disinfection, including non-domestic and utilities
Knowledge of water regulations and their implementation
Competent in IT software programmes
Full UK driving licence (national travel required)
Experience in cold water tank/system cleaning and disinfection
Ability to perform TMV servicing, closed system sampling, and dosing
Strong organisational and communication skills
Commitment to health and safety and adherence to ISS technical policies
