Tinco Sheet Metal
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for working with project documents, such as architectural drawings and specifications, to create shop drawings to accurately and efficiently portray the product for submittal to the project General Contractor/Architect.

ITEM ESSENTIAL DUTIES Drafting & Detailing Produce accurate shop drawings and details for sheet metal flashing and trims; metal roof/ wall panels; specialty items such as louvers, screens, sunshades, roof hatches, and others. Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, industry standards, and Tinco drafting standards. Utilize AutoCAD daily; familiarity with Revit/BIM is a plus.
Product Data & Material Research Research, compile, and download product data and technical documents from manufacturers and Tinco Standard Materials Library. Create and maintain organized vendor folders for all product data, ensuring information is current and accessible.
Specification Review Read, understand, and navigate architectural specification documents. Identify required materials, performance criteria, installation requirements, and submittal obligations.
File Coordination Coordinate AutoCAD files with architects and general contractors, including downloading from FTP sites and project portals. Track revisions and ensure all drawings reflect the latest issued documents.
Communication & Submittal Support Maintain consistent communication with general contractors, superintendents, and project managers regarding submittals, product data, and drawing updates. Assist in preparing complete and accurate submittal packages.
Document Control & Organization Organize and maintain all project drawing files, product data, and revision logs using Tinco’s filing system standards. Ensure digital and physical documentation is complete and easy to access.
RFI / RFC Assistance Assist in reviewing, preparing, and drafting RFIs (Requests for Information) and RFCs (Requests for Clarification). Participate in site visits when necessary to verify field conditions and support detailing accuracy.
Time Management Estimate and manage the amount of time required to complete detailing tasks. Meet deadlines without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
Construction Knowledge Demonstrate a foundational understanding of building systems such as wood framing vs. metal stud construction, weatherproofing systems, and typical envelope assemblies.
Quality Assurance Perform thorough QA/QC checks of your own work before submitting drawings to a supervisor or project manager. Verify dimensions, connections, material callouts, and compliance with specifications.
Performs all other duties deemed necessary by management. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be highly organized and possess excellent problem-solving skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD. Experience with Revit, BIM coordination tools, and/or Bluebeam. Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or one (1) to four (4) years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred strong knowledge of function of sheet metal and/or metal panel systems. Proven ability to interpret specifications, architectural drawings, CAD drawings, renderings, and details. Excellent communication and time-management skills required to meet deadlines and coordinate with project stakeholders. Ability to work independently. Ability to send and receive emails. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Remaining Stationary: The ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, operating a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Manual Dexterity: Constantly use hands and fingers to operate, activate, or prepare items, including repetitive motions required for typing and using a mouse (keyboarding and fine manipulation). Communication: Frequently required to communicate and exchange accurate information with colleagues and clients, requiring the ability to detect, discern, and converse with others. Visual Acuity: Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to observe details at close range (clear vision at 20 inches or less) for computer work and document review. Mobility (Occasional): Occasionally required to move or traverse about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to attend meetings in various locations. Light Lifting: Occasionally positions and moves objects weighing up to 15 pounds (e.g., carrying files, lifting a laptop, or moving boxes of office supplies). WORK ENVIRONMENT : Work is performed primarily indoors in office setting involving moderate noise level and close proximity to others.
