Works with vendors to set up sampling events in order to promote product sales.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*** Develops professional relationships with customers and provides education on beer and wine as well as food pairings.* Works with pricing department to ensure accuracy of price tags.* Maintains thorough knowledge on all beer, wine, and humidor offerings.* Maintains wine selection and provides management with input on requested wines/beers as well as top sellers.* Assists with product ordering according to clientele, specific season, promotions, etc.* Works with category management personnel to ensure vendor pricing is accurate and reasonable. Uses knowledge of sales and top items to help determine which products would be successful.* Maintains appealing shelf displays and appropriate labeling of products according to Company standards.* Monitors product inventory and evaluates to ensure assortment and variety in wine and beer offerings.* Works with local vendors and distributors to select wine and beer products to be served in-store and on the patio.* Partners with various departments to execute all merchandising policies to maximize sales and profits.* Works with vendors on coordinating sampling events.* Monitors and reports on competitive pricing activities to category management.* Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.* Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.* Provides friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, etc.**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*** Advanced knowledge of alcohol regulations and guidelines.* Advanced knowledge of beer and wine products.* Ability to read and operate bar equipment such as corkscrews, draft beer dispensers, etc.* Ability to learn new systems, methods, or processes.* Ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools.* Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment.* Ability to effectively communicate with customers and partners in written and verbal form.* Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.* Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.**Education, Experience and Qualifications:*** Minimum of 21 years of age required.* Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.* High school Diploma or GED and five or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.* Food Handler certification required.* TABC/LACT certification required.**Physical Demands:*** Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.* Continuously required to stand or walk.* Frequently required to talk and hear.* Frequently required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.* Frequently required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs.* Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs.* Occasionally required to bend, kneel or squat.* Attendance at work is required.**Work Context and Environment:*** Work is generally performed in a retail store.* Occasionally exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).* Occasionally exposed to extreme heat conditions (non-weather).* Occasionally exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.* Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.* Quiet to moderate noise level.
