Lead Pastor Responsibilities Providing visionary leadership and oversight for Jamestown Harbor Church. Performing regular pastoral duties including preaching, pastoral care, pastoral leadership, and discipleship. Providing direct oversight for all Sunday morning ministries, teams, and processes. Ensuring campus engagement in mission and outreach opportunities. Overseeing campus ministries including family ministries, congregational care, discipleship pathway, and weekly operations. Ensuring Harbor Churches mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities are implemented through the ministries at Jamestown Harbor Church.
Visionary Leadership Cast and strengthen vision for Jamestown Harbor Church to the congregation, leaders and staff. Leadership of the staff and ministry leadership teams and Campus Care Team.
Pastoral Duties Serves as the primary preacher and anchors a teaching team. Ensures pastoral care is taking place. Attends to pastoral leadership including weddings, funerals, and sacraments. Is personally discipling people through the leadership of a discipleship huddle, small group, or missional community.
Sunday Worship Oversee a Sunday experience where the values for worship, preaching, kids, guest services, etc. are consistently implemented. Ensure all ministry teams are equipped and functioning effectively for Sunday worship each week. Cultivate a Sunday experience that reflects Jamestown Harbor Church vision and values.
Mission and Outreach Ensure the development and implementation of yearly outreach plans to impact the local community. Ensure the development and implementation of missional strategies consistent with Harbor Churches mission team. Ensure outreach strategies are driven by vision and result in meaningful community impact.
Ministry Oversight and Alignment Provide overall strategic oversight and accountability for the effective implementation of ministry areas including family ministries, congregational care, the discipleship pathway, and weekly operations. Collaborate with staff and ministry leaders to set direction, establish goals, and assess progress across all ministry areas. Maintain visibility, support, and coaching for staff and key leaders to ensure ministry health, alignment, and effectiveness. Ensure family ministry teams are supported, aligned, and effective in serving children, students, and parents while advancing the mission. Ensure congregational care systems are equipped and functioning effectively to meet the needs of the congregation. Oversee the implementation and integration of the discipleship pathway, ensuring opportunities for spiritual growth, partnership, and leadership development. Oversee weekly operations of the campus, ensuring budgets and financial management, congregational communication strategies, campus events and calendar, and administrative processes are consistently implemented. Regularly review ministry outcomes and leadership development efforts to strengthen alignment and foster unity across ministry areas.
Working Relationships Reports to Jamestown Harbor Church Consistory. Works alongside other Lead Pastors. Provides direction and oversight for Jamestown Harbor staff and volunteers.
Qualifications The Jamestown Harbor Lead Pastor is a full-time and salaried position. Requirements for the position are a love for the church, a demonstrated ability in staff and team leadership, strong interpersonal skills, ability and passion for preaching, a capacity for pastoral care, a servant heart, ability to foster unity, and the capacity to equip, empower, and disciple volunteers to serve Christ. Preaching experience and/or education is required. As with all church staff positions, the Lead Pastor must have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, an active prayer life, and a servant’s heart.
