Overview

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers who have a few years and multiple electromechanical product designs under their belt. In this role you will use your design experience to create concepts, evaluate feasibility, contribute to technical project planning, and ultimately design, test, and launch products that make the world a better place! At Engenious, Mechanical Engineers are instrumental technical experts who bring comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering to a fast-paced, cross-functional design team. They collaborate with Industrial Designers, Electrical Engineers, fellow MEs, and other project team members. They quickly apply engineering fundamentals to design challenges and tradeoffs, can transform a napkin sketch into an injection-m molded enclosure or translate a challenging medical procedure description into a 3D printed mechanism. A flexible team member who can shift from sprinting to perfectionism to suit the situation. They aren’t afraid of getting hands dirty in the shop fabricating prototypes and testing designs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Dream up new product concepts , working closely with industrial designers, electrical engineers, prototype model makers, technicians, and others. Lead explorations of new product concepts and manage design tradeoffs , evaluating fabrication feasibility, risk, development time, cost, and product functionality. Lead detail design of complex electromechanical products , including mechanisms, motion and fluid control systems, and device enclosures. Rapidly create 3D models in SolidWorks , ranging from quick concepts to production-level parts and assemblies using robust modeling practices. Develop product specifications and requirements to communicate design intent, materials, mitigate hazards, and establish acceptable performance standards. Apply mechanical engineering fundamentals

such as statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer to evaluate concepts and inform design decisions. Analyze and document key mechanical system characteristics , including tolerance analyses, thermal performance models, mechanism motion properties, or dynamic fluid pressure/flow. Construct and test prototypes

using 3D printers, shop tools, and selected suppliers. Drive discussions with Engenious clients

to understand the product/project vision and present technical design updates and reviews. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends

to recommend improvements and innovations in mechanical design processes. Provide technical mentorship

to junior mechanical engineers and often serve as the lead mechanical engineer on projects requiring a team. POSITION DETAILS

This is a full-time, permanent position. This position works from our Kansas City based office during core business hours. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) Demonstrated SolidWorks modeling experience (SolidWorks strongly preferred, but willing to consider CREO, Inventor, CATIA) NICE TO HAVE

Injection molding and sheet metal design experience Product design, launch, and support experience Additional candidate prompts used for screening (convert to plain text): Years of experience in mechanical engineering Years of experience with SolidWorks Years of experience with other mCAD platforms What mechanism, fluid system, or enclosure system are you most proud of designing? Give an example of how you have approached evaluating a design that performed poorly during testing. Give an example of a time you had to work closely with a designer from another discipline to solve a mechanical design challenge. Engenious Design HQ is located in the Kansas City Metro. Are you willing to relocate if required? Are you authorized to work in the U.S.? Will you now or in the future require Engenious Design to commence a immigration case to employ you? How did you hear about Engenious Design? If you answered Referral or Other above, please note details.
