This is a technical and consultative presales role that bridges business and engineering. As a Sales Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, architecting scalable payment solutions and guiding partners through complex integrations. If you enjoy working cross-functionally, solving technical challenges, and shaping how companies embed payments into their platforms, this role is for you. In this Sales Engineer role, you will:

Technical Partnership & Advisory

Serve as the primary technical advisor during the presales process, conducting discovery sessions to understand partner requirements and architectural constraints

Design and present tailored integration strategies that align with partner business models, compliance requirements, and operational capabilities

Create proof-of-concept implementations and technical demonstrations that showcase Payabli’s capabilities in partner-specific contexts

Develop decision frameworks and best practice documentation for common integration scenarios (hosted vs embedded vs hybrid approaches)

Solution Architecture & Design

Architect comprehensive payment solutions leveraging Payabli’s API ecosystem, including PayIn, PayOut, and PayOps functionality

Guide partners through critical architectural decisions including tokenization strategies, webhook implementations, and settlement configurations

Evaluate partner technical environments and recommend optimal integration patterns that balance functionality with maintainability

Design scalable merchant onboarding workflows that address partner-specific requirements while leveraging Payabli’s platform capabilities

Sales Enablement

Partner with sales teams to qualify technical requirements and identify integration complexity early in the sales cycle

Deliver compelling technical demonstrations that connect Payabli’s capabilities to specific partner use cases and business outcomes

Support RFP responses with detailed technical specifications and competitive differentiation points

Technical Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

Create comprehensive integration guides, decision trees, and implementation playbooks for partner consumption

Document common integration patterns, troubleshooting procedures, and optimization strategies

Conduct technical enablement sessions for partners’ development teams

Contribute to public-facing technical documentation and API reference materials

Cross-functional Collaboration

Partner with Product and Engineering teams to communicate partner requirements and influence roadmap priorities

Collaborate with Integration Team to ensure smooth handoff from presales to implementation

Work with Customer Success to gather feedback on integration patterns and identify optimization opportunities

Support Marketing with technical content creation and thought leadership initiatives

We’d love to hear from you if you:

Technical Expertise

3+ years of experience in solutions engineering, technical presales, or similar customer-facing technical role

Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and modern integration patterns

Experience with payment processing concepts including tokenization, PCI compliance, and transaction flows

Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or similar)

Familiarity with API testing tools (Postman, curl) and debugging techniques

Business & Communication Skills

Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, from developers to C-level executives

Experience conducting technical discovery sessions and requirements gathering

Track record of creating technical proposals and solution documentation

Comfort presenting to large audiences and facilitating technical workshops

Ability to position technical solutions in business context with clear value articulation

Industry Knowledge

Understanding of payment industry fundamentals (acquiring, issuing, card networks, ACH)Familiarity with PCI DSS compliance requirements and security best practices

Knowledge of common payment use cases across different verticals (SaaS, marketplaces, platforms)

Awareness of competitive payment facilitation and embedded payment solutions

You’ll earn bonus points for:

Experience with payment platforms

Background in fintech, payments, or financial services

Understanding of accounting concepts and financial reconciliation processes

Experience with merchant underwriting and risk management concepts

Familiarity with agile development methodologies and iterative deployment models

Previous experience in a high-growth technology company
