Position Overview

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants for a nine-month non-tenure track lecturer position in digital media to begin August 2026. The position is renewable annually with a 4/4 teaching load focused on digital storytelling, field video, podcasting and possibly media and society courses. Additional responsibilities include student mentoring and service to the department, campus, and community. Responsibilities

Teach a 4/4 load of digital media courses. Develop and deliver courses in digital storytelling, field video, podcasting, and media and society. Provide student mentoring and advising for student organizations. Participate in departmental service and committee work. Engage in professional enrichment and community outreach. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

MS, MA, or MFA in communication studies, media studies or a closely related field at time of application. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Demonstrated ability to teach applied learning and collaborate with community partners. Desire to be advisor for student organizations. Demonstrated ability to teach the use of current video and audio production equipment and uphold industry standards for production. Secondary teaching and service areas that meet the needs of the department, university, and community. Required Documents
