What You'll Do
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and production of vacuum furnaces and associated subsystems. You will collaborate closely with our engineering team to guide technical direction and ensure successful project execution from concept to completion. Core Responsibilities
Provide engineering design and calculation support for equipment, fabrications, and systems in the manufacture of vacuum furnaces including hot zones, chambers, gas quench systems, vacuum pumping systems, water cooling systems, pneumatic systems, partial pressure systems and other subassemblies. Develop, recommend, and implement engineering operating procedures to ensure smooth operation of the engineering function within the company. Provide technical support as needed for customers, sales, field service and manufacturing. Provide oversight of engineering software systems with a focus on improving business processes (e.g. PDM, ERP, CAD). Check designs, drawings, and bills of material for accurate content. Assist the purchasing team with the development of accurate information for the purchase of materials and services, meet with vendors, research materials, and qualify suppliers. Apply a working knowledge of engineering codes and standards that affect component specification, performance, operation, and safety of vacuum furnaces such as ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Div 1, NFPA 86, and ANSI/ASME/AMS standards. What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited program and a minimum of 8 years of advanced mechanical engineering experience demonstrating equivalent knowledge, skills, and education typically acquired through completion of an accredited engineering curriculum. Strong background in mechanical design, heat transfer processes (radiation, conduction and convention), incompressible and compressible fluid flow calculations, and thermal systems (vacuum furnace experience is highly preferred). Proficient in 3D CAD design using Autodesk Inventor (preferred), with working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD. Experience with Product Data Management systems (Autodesk Vault preferred) and familiarity with ERP software, ideally Acumatica. Why Join Solar Manufacturing?
We offer a dynamic work environment where your ideas and expertise will help shape the next generation of vacuum furnace technology. Join a collaborative, forward‑thinking team committed to innovation, precision engineering, and customer success. Solar Manufacturing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
