Join a thriving team of 1st Line of Defense team as senior Private Equity/Hedge Fund underwriter. 1st LOD Credit Officer spans various products including subscription call facilities, Fund Financing, FX, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, and structured lending.
The Underwriter role is responsible for underwriting, closing coordination with the investment banking team. The overall objective is to finance new construction and the preservation of affordable and workforce rental housing, as well as office, retail, warehouse/industrial, multifamily, hotel, and self-storage properties for Citigroup.
Responsibilities
Lead and Manage Private Equity transactions risk across markets and banking.
Perform due diligence and review credit memos for final approval.
Monitor counterparty and portfolio limits.
Process transactions through internal systems to ensure regulatory requirements.
Manage communications among a diverse mix of internal and external participants.
Meet with internal and external clients and participate in training opportunities.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS / BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP
Proven ability to understand nuances of local markets, local regulation, and the capabilities and practices of competitors.
Provides well-reasoned, balanced assessments of risk/return trade-offs associated with transactions and client relationships.
Proven track record of partnering with global peers in leveraging and implementation of best practices.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience.
Significant risk/risk-related counterparty credit work experience in banking/financial institutions with expertise in Private Equity/Hedge funds counterparties.
Excellent presentation skills – adept at presenting effectively to audiences of various sizes and various constituencies.
Ability to facilitate relationships with key clients in Banking and Risk.
Individual must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Individual must work well under tight deadlines, manage priorities, and complete assigned tasks with minimal management follow up.
Candidate has quantitative skills with a high proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft based programs.
Experience underwriting and supporting a portfolio of complex products.
Strong knowledge of Derivatives and structured lending.
Excellent analytical and computer skills including the ability to quickly adopt new technology.
Education
Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred.
