Job Title: Light Rail Vehicle Body And Paint Repair
Under moderate supervision, performs all types of body and paint repairs on light rail vehicles. Recruitment Timeline: Multiple Choice Exams are projected to be scheduled for the week of February 16, 2026. Performance Exams are projected to be scheduled for the week of March 2, 2026. Repairs body and paint damage to the interior and exterior of the light rail vehicles Removes vehicle parts such as headlights to perform repairs on the damaged areas Uses Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding equipment to repair damage Mixes paints, matches colors, and paints vehicle surfaces with high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray guns Responds to emergency body repair and maintenance requirements of rail vehicles Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out Minimum Qualifications
2 year's experience in paint and body repair of cars, trucks, or rail vehicles and six months' welding experience Successful completion of a full time training program from an accredited school in paint and body repair may be substituted for an equivalent amount of actual work experience Valid California Class C driver's license Essential Knowledge
Knowledge Methods, materials, equipment, and safety procedures utilized in the repair and painting of rail vehicle bodies Vehicle operation and safety Abilities Perform repair and painting to a variety of rail vehicle body surfaces Establish and maintain effective working relationships Communicate effectively with others Safely operate Metro vehicles Safely operate a variety of tools and equipment Maintain simple written records Follow verbal and written instructions Lift and move objects weighing up to 60 pounds Tolerate exposure to noise, unpleasant odors, and outdoor work at night and in all types of weather Read, write, speak, and understand English Special Conditions Must comply with all California Occupational Safety & Health Act (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and protective gear including but not limited to respirators and/or hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required Must be able to work on any one of three shifts and weekends May be exposed to weather, chemical, electrical, and physical hazards when performing duties Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations Metro is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, ancestry, national origin, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, age, veteran status, or disability.
