About JAMLAC The Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Center (JAMLAC) is a faith-based non‑profit charitable organization (501(c)(3)) that provides full civil legal representation for family law, immigration law, and limited civil matters. Our mission is to seek justice for people who are struggling with poverty and oppression in a way that affirms their dignity and strengthens their capacity to positively direct their own lives.

Position Overview This posting is for a full‑time Immigration Paralegal who has 1‑3 years’ paralegal experience. The job is open immediately and is a grant funded position.

Role & Responsibilities JAMLAC’s immigration legal practice includes comprehensive, full‑service direct representation before USCIS and the immigration courts (EOIR). This position will be trained and work on cases before USCIS on affirmative application, including family‑based petitions, humanitarian applications (i.e., asylum, U Visa, VAWA, SIJS), and Naturalization.

Maintain a diverse caseload which includes victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment and stalking, as well as other crimes involving child victims or children of victims.

Serve as primary assistant to attorneys/DOJ Accredited Representative and point of contact between clients and attorney/DOJ Accredited Representative.

Maintain attorneys’/DOJ Accredited Representative's calendars, schedule client appointments, court dates and deadlines.

Open and maintain client files, track client progress, close out files, collect and organize documents, draft pleadings and personal statements, fill out applications.

Accompany represented victims to court hearings.

Provide translation and interpretation (Spanish/English) services to clients.

Participate in and assist with training to staff and volunteers.

Participate in training and outreach activities in the community.

Ideal Candidate

Must be fluent in both English and Spanish.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Experience working in immigration law preferred but not required.

Is a Colorado Notary Public or is willing to become a Notary.

Communicates effectively in writing and speaking, paying close attention to details.

Has the flexibility, patience, and humor to thrive in a fast‑paced, unpredictable environment.

Has a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration in a primarily legal services setting.

Committed to attaining a basic knowledge of immigration law.

Familiarity in working with clients in crisis or who are recent trauma survivors.

Salary & Benefits Salary is competitive and ranges from $50,000 to $60,000 depending on education and experience. This is a grant funded position.

75% contribution toward Medical Insurance premiums for employees and dependents along with a generous monthly Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution.

A monthly stipend of $500/month for individuals and $1,000 for employees with dependents (if Medical Insurance is waived).
