What You’ll Do We’re looking for a CLO (Collateralized Loan Obligation) Fixed Income Portfolio Manager to join our team! In this role you’ll lead the investment outlook, strategy, and portfolio construction for high-yield and leveraged loan strategies. You’ll drive thought leadership, business development, profitability, and team leadership within Principal Asset Management.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute competitive high-yield and leveraged loan strategies and processes

Manage flagship accounts, ensuring alignment with client objectives and delivering top-tier performance and P&L results

Represent Principal Fixed Income in client meetings, presentations, and industry forums; support product development and marketing

Monitor global markets and industry trends to identify opportunities and risks

Lead, mentor, and develop staff to foster collaboration, innovation, and results

Who You Are

Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, finance, economics or another technical field

10+ years' work experience with fixed income strategies in a trading, research, portfolio specialist or portfolio management capacity

Prior experience developing CLO strategies

CFA charter holder

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

Deep knowledge of global economies and investment theories, fixed income investments, and related regulatory requirements

MBA

Familiarity with database structures, big data techniques and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R)

Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships and negotiate

Strong abilities in the areas of change management, strategic planning, decision making, communication (verbal and written), presentations, and leadership

Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively in a highly competitive environment with incomplete information

Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$242,000 - $328,000 / year

Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Location(s) The position is open to either Denver, traveling to Des Moines 20% of the time, or at our global headquarters in Des Moines, IA.
