Position Summary The Senior Process Mechanical Designer is a direct staff, senior-level position on our process mechanical design team. This role leads and executes detailed piping and equipment layout design for pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and other advanced manufacturing facilities. Working closely with engineering and construction teams, this position ensures designs are compliant, constructible, and aligned with project execution in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Design and detail process piping and equipment layouts for manufacturing facilities and laboratories
Develop high-purity process and clean utility systems in compliance with ASME BPE
Create, coordinate, and review detailed 3D piping models in a VDC/BIM environment
Produce and review software-generated piping isometrics and orthographic drawings
Work from and interpret P&IDs, flow diagrams, specifications, and datasheets
Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to support constructability
Conduct site visits for field verification and design support
Review and validate models, drawings, and project documentation
Provide technical support during construction, startup, and commissioning
Stay current on industry standards, codes, and design technologies
Qualifications
Minimum 6 - 10 years of experience as a Process Mechanical / Piping Designer
Proven experience in the layout and construction of organic and/or biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities or laboratories
Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or other piping- and equipment-focused industries will be considered
Strong working knowledge of ASME BPE, high-purity, and clean utility piping system design
Design development proficiency in a VDC/BIM environment (required)
Proficiency in 3D design modeling and production of isometrics and orthographic drawings
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
Ability to execute assignments independently
Willingness to travel regionally as needed
