Structural Designer – Remote
Orbital Engineering is a leading provider of innovative engineering solutions. We are looking for a Structural Designer to support our Midwest North Operations. The role can be fully remote for the right candidate. Preference for candidates living in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, or Missouri.
Responsibilities
Prepare design drawings for structural systems.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team throughout design process.
Review structural drawings for errors and omissions.
Ensure project contract documents are accurate and quality.
Attend weekly project meetings to review design progress.
Update CAD Standards to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Mentor junior designers and provide first‑level oversight.
Requirements
5+ years of structural design experience with steel and reinforced concrete.
Experience designing and drafting structural systems in a heavy industrial environment.
Knowledge of industry standards.
Proficient with latest AutoCAD and Revit.
AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, Steel Detailing – plus.
Team orientation, self‑motivated, high attention to detail.
High school diploma required; Associate degree in design/drafting – plus.
