Ascensus
Nyhart’s Defined Benefit team offers pension actuarial consulting services for private, government, church, and cash balance plans. Our actuaries use their technical, financial and administrative expertise to provide guidance in the design and maintenance of retirement plans.
Responsibilities
Reconcile census and financial data utilized in preparing accounting and funding valuation reports
Draft routine deliverables, including contribution requirements, accounting costs, government forms and other standardized reports
Update assumptions and provisions in third-party software for use in annual valuations
Prepare and/or review routine benefit calculations
Develop and maintain expertise on design and plan administration of assigned clients
Interface with client to handle routine valuation and administration-related tasks
Work towards attaining actuarial credentials
Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

Skills & Qualifications
Bachelors degree in actuarial science, math or math related field; Overall GPA 3.0 or higher; Math or Actuarial GPA 3.5 or higher
Passing grade on at least one actuarial exam
Prior experience as an analyst supporting pension plan valuations and/or actuarial consulting teams preferred
Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft, particularly Excel applications
Experience with ProVal, exposure to public sector/church plans preferred
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, manage tasks and meet deadlines in connection with business operations
