Pay Range: Starting min: $16.00 + based on experience
The Sales Associate (Flex/Lawn & Garden) is the face of our company, showcasing our brand and building our reputation as a customer‑focused organization. The role requires a positive, outgoing personality with a passion for serving others and making a positive impact.
Responsibilities
Proactively engage customers, ask questions, and listen to their needs.
Guide customers to merchandise, inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card benefits.
Provide premier customer service and build positive, inclusive, respectful relationships.
Maintain store appearance and ensure the layout meets customer expectations.
Cross‑sell, upsell, and suggest products based on the latest trends and individual customer needs.
Use the Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash, discounts, gift cards, credit, and debit transactions while ensuring accurate cash handling.
Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliation as required.
Act as the keeper of merchandise: complete inventory processes, check goods in, and ticket items accurately.
Adhere to the assigned work schedule and follow through on all work assignments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic product knowledge of outdoor living and pet shop merchandise.
Retail experience preferred but not required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting instructional documents.
Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Ability to multi‑task, stay attentive to customers, and remain flexible to business needs.
Can work as part of a team and take initiative independently.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing (at least two consecutive hours).
Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders.
Vision: close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Lifting at least 25 lbs., up to 50 lbs. in some departments.
Mostly indoors, may be assigned outdoors depending on location.
Other Skills and Availability
Enthusiastic, friendly, energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.
Available to work a variety of hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
