The Position AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Subject Matter Expert (F-A-18 NGTS)-Senior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation.
The salary range of this position is $120,000.00 - $200,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on‑site support is required.

Position Background The Synthetic Environment Modeling (SEM) team is a government run organization that develops an advanced suite of software products supporting modeling and simulation (M&S) environments. The SEM product users include trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and it’s international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed. The Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) is the flagship product. NGTS is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research and development.
A typical day as a Subject Matter Expert (F-A-18 NGTS)-Senior may include
Assists a software development team in developing an advanced synthetic training environment to support military pilot training
Applies tactical knowledge to support scenario development for customer training objectives and test events
Conducts general subject matter research, analysis, correlation and assessments
Assists in the NGTS introduction to fleet activities
Performs as the liaison between military personnel and NGTS Programmers
Participates in software testing activities
Acts as technical liaison to outside organizations
Writes, edits and tracks status of discrepancy reports
Translates technical discrepancies and communicates tactical impact of all tracked issues
Assists tactical SMEs with test, verification and validation of NGTS deliveries
Develops/Tracks test plans, compiles results and communicates findings to stakeholders
Assists in documenting, prioritizing and coordinating fix deliveries on behalf of LITL/ITF NAWDC
Works with NGTS team to help ensure LITL/ITF specific items are acknowledged, assigned to work, completed, tested and delivered on agreed‑upon timeline
Tracks database changes to installed version of NGTS
Creates and maintains a list of all players, behaviors, directives and components created in‑house
Operate standalone SIPR NGTS installation
Ensures database changes are created in SIPR and DTA’d to ISE
Helps insure in‑house changes are included in future deliveries of updated versions
Represents ITF issues and concerns at working groups
Collaborates with other NGTS users to identify shared issues, common problems and work arounds
Ensures that requirements are not being duplicated between sites
Communicates how NGTS needs to proceed to ensure delivered fix meets the effective needs of both stakeholders, if duplicated
Remains familiar with NGTS Battle Monitor, Parametric Data Editor, Player Editor and Behavior Editor
Uses all programs effectively
Remains familiar with SDK
Conducts basic, intermediate and advanced operator training on various NGTS software components
Assists operators in scenario development, creation of new players and components, and scenario control
Coordinates with NGTS team regarding future version capabilities and limitations
Communicates to NAWDC stakeholders which features and fixes are included to assist in decision making for requesting updated software deliveries
Maintains cognizance on which bugs and which features are include in every version deployed at NAWDC
Acts as point of contact between NGTS team and virtual trainer OEMs to facilitate integration tasks
Must-haves
BS/BA Degree OR AS Degree with 4 years of additional work experience (16 years total) OR HS Diploma/Equivalent with 6 years of additional work experience (18 years total)
12 years of relevant work experience
12 years of tactical, military experience with background in F/A-18 aircraft
3 years of experience supporting Model and Simulation efforts
Prior experience performing software testing
Prior flight simulator operations experience
3 years of experience developing models for simulator software
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Access
The ability to maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance-Secret Clearance required to start
Desired Skills
Graduate advanced military training for F/A-18 tactics
Extensive experience in mission planning
Understanding of electronic order of battle

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.
